2fa code not being received, could this be the problem?

A lot of people are having problems with this, especially people who have not set it up themselves, but a lot are saying the last 3 digits of the mobile are correct.  So has Sky created a program to use a mobile number linked peoples accounts?  If so. has the program being 'told' of international dialling code rules of omitting the first 0 of the mobile phone no?

Fot example;

Telephone no. 012*****890 is linked to an account, the program dutifully copies that code into the 2fa system creating telephone number +44 012*****890 instead of the correct number of +44 12*****890.  Sorry had to put stars in instead of numbers because I'm beem told it is too 'Identifiable' oops!

The correct last 3 digits would still be shown but the code probably wouldn't come to the mobile.

Could this possibly happen?  Thoughts anyone?

Unlikely I would have thought as we are only seeing a very small number of people who are having issues for some reason as for the majority it seems that codes are being received and I count myself in this.

We have seen some people on here posting to say they have found the verification code in their messaging app's spam folder.

@AM109 when I log in, the 'Verification Code will be sent to...' page includes the leading 07 digits as well as the last three digits of my mobile number, so it's easy to see whether or not the leading zero has been omitted.

There are far more people not saying they are not getting their 2FA code, so I don't think there is anything wrong with the programming.

Hello people,

I was just  trying to think outside the box and throw it out there.

As you never  know when a stupid idea may be part of the solution!

According to the Sky advisor, I spoke to yesterday, there are a lot of people with the same issue.

The common demonator seems to be those who didn't set up 2 factor verification and were clicking the Maybe Later option.

The issue is neither Sky or Yahoo informed their customers it was going to be made mandatory last Thursday.

And because the customers never set it up, they never received a recovery code.

You also have to remember a lot of users are probably not even aware yet. They use the app on their phones and that doesn't require 2FA.

But at some point there will be a need to login again and the same thing will arise.

I have been told there is a tech team working on a fix as it is affecting multiple users and the quick fixes and options like looking in Spam for your codes are not working.

Hi Tractor+Shark,

That is why I threw my thoughts out there.  Also to see if anyone else had any wild ideas about what gremlin in the system might be causing this problem, especially when peoples mobile numbers look correct.
