sky and using vpn

Hi folks

Am thinking of getting a VPN service and I believe the sky router does not support this, but a IT guy says I would need to get a new router for it to work properly

I am just wanting to check that there is nothing in the t&c about this. ie is it allowed?

thanks for any info

There isn't any model of Sky Hub which can itself host a VPN service. It's entirely legitimate to use VPN client software on devices behind a Hub.

@troonguy1 Your IT guy may have been suggesting a different router/hub that supports applying a VPN for all devices connected through the sky, that is an option that the HUB does not support, but buy the VPN that can be used on multiple devices and apply it all you wish to vpn on!

Re: sky and using vpn

I beleive he was going to use the new router hub to install the vpn into (AdGuard), rahter than use a service like Nord, where you download their app

thanks

Sky doesn't block use of non-Sky routers, but it won't offer help with them either and some just won't work.

There's also no way to have Sky Talk Internet Calls without a Sky Hub.
