rainy days

working from home and have noticed my broadband dies each time there is heavy rain? Currently not working yet, telling me on app it's fine! Your thoughts?!

@Martin153 Sounds like your using the partial fibre technology that uses a copper phone line from the cabinet to your home. These lines can be decades old and water high frequency electrical signals dont mix well particularly if the line runs on poles past trees etc.

 

While you can report the issue to Sky but whether Openreach will or can do anything is far from certainas they are planning to decommission the copper network in a few years. It is fustrating for those people stuck with the old technology. Sky cannot compel Openreach to do anything and of course switching to a different ISP wont help if they use the same line.

One strategy to consider is that because ground faults caused by water penetration are typically transitory, it's important to log it while the fault condition exists, not after it's cleared (otherwise the diagnostics won't pick it up)

ok, thanks for filling me in.  Yes, I am connected as you've outlined below and have noticed the connection problems always occur after a heavy down pour.  My problem is I live on a private road, mainly with senior citizens, so wonder if the cost of Openreach digging holes to lay the cable would be too expensive?
