house move

hi. moving home shortly, arranged the house move via sky online.

Got an email today saying saying TV package will be transitioned over but both sky talk and broadband have a message saying 'sorry your leaving'.

If log in to sky and it suggests my cancelation is in progress.

I didnt cancel anything. is there something I should be doing differently?

@s777tew it can be thst your new address does not have an Openreach conection or the possibility to have one installed which can be the case for example on new developments by Persimmons. You can check by entering your new address into the foloowing checker - if you post the results remove the ref to your address - DSL Checker

If not then you need to check with Sky as something could have gone wrong.

Sky Talk is inherently linked with Sky Broadband in all orders these days, as all new voice provision uses IP rather than PSTN.

As @Chrisee indicates, it may be that Sky cannot get broadband to the new address: they don't have complete UK/RoI presence, and some new-build estates and private flats have monopoly suppliers.

That's the key bit: the current occupant is (or was) using FTTP

If they haven't canceled the service, Sky can't take over supply.

There's no copper-based provision other than marginal ADSL, so Sky can't offer FTTC.

@s777tew edit missed the line @TimmyBGood points out.

I am escalating your post to Sky so you can check with them why they think you are leaving..

Re: house move

hi. so the move day was two days ago.

should be getting the TV up today hopefully.

I assume I just plug the box in and good to go?

no corrspondance from sky over this so just assuming this is the way. fortunatly there is a dish on the house already from the previous owner. guessing it works, can only try.

what is odd is its showing on my system account, my old address and the moving seems to have vanished. would have assumed a computerised system would have updated that already.

former owner didnt have a phone, assuming this is why sky canceled the phone and internet rather than transfering it.

so looking like no internet for a month as im out the UK and sky will only speak to the bill payer.

@s777tew Sky should send an engineer out if its Sky Q otherwise you are on your own with Sky HD+ and the new Sjy Glass/Stream. If you do have Sky Q I would check what is going on with Sky.

Re: house move

looks like im back to square 1.

it is Sky Q we have.

we informed sky we were moving house, is there some other form somewhere to book an engineer that you have to do after you move house? wouldnt that be part of the 'hey we are moving house' scenario. i have been all over this site for hours.

honestly demoralising.

sky community is helpfull and i appreciate the assistance, but isnt this someone doing skys job for them?

Re: house move

so eventually found a form to book an engineer, but as it still has my old address on the system, it wont allow me to change it. im out of the uk for another month, sky wont accomodate anyone other than the bill payer.

simplest solution will be canceling this altogether.

@s777tew

You could commission and pay a local independent installer to swap the LNB on the dish.
