cannot connect to work vpn, used to work before.
IT support said they cannot help as its my home broadband which may be blocking teh vpn connection.

Did you IT support tell you what it might be? Sounds like a pretty bad IT team if they just tell you they can't help with no indication of what you actually need to fix.
Have you tried disabling Sky Shield?

I can now access VPN via mobile hotspot and therefore they think it is something to do with Sky
