XER10 Modem mode

I understand this router is new to sky (been Comcast for a few years), now the Comcast version has bridge mode can't seem to find the same on the Sky version. Port forwarding via an app is a terrible idea was the same on Comcast, but atl east on that version, you could bridge mode it, but having spoken to techs, they seem to know nothing about the router and tell me they cant give username and password to use my router as it's against TOS

@Khiles

Chances are any modem mode has been removed by the application of Sky firmware.

Re: XER10 Modem mode

Understand that you can even see it in the code on the web page, saying to disable if a Sky UK version, seems a stupid idea, especially when the router is so locked down

@Khiles If its against the TOS to share it in the forum it would be against the TOS to share it via PM, so probably best to just not share it at all.

Re: XER10 Modem mode

Im not sure if it is against TOS but didn't want to

get banned on first day

I can't see how it is against TOS as the feature is part of the router just hidden (with it been a Comcast router)

Re: XER10 Modem mode

@Khiles If you do need to do more then you would be advised to look at getting some other Router on the back end of the sky to give you what you need!

Re: XER10 Modem mode

@Khiles That does make your post completley irrelevant for the sky hub operation then!

@Khiles while the Sky models are deveoped in association with Comcast they are not clones running custom firmware. Sky heavily lock down their kit and forbid any software modifications to any if their hubsxwhich remain their property.

However given the UK regulator Ofcom requires isps to allow customers to use their own kit the work round is simply to configure suitable third party routers. Informally Sky have told the forum superusers they are aware a small % of customers do just that.and we are encouraged to provide support in the forum.

Re: XER10 Modem mode

i did originally try with just the Asus router using option 61 random@skydsl but it would never seem to get an ip im using a Asus RT-BE88U. I was not sure how Sky handles the cityfiber connection, if it was the same

Re: XER10 Modem mode

@Khiles You may be doing something wrong then, Asus routers been on for over 4 years through different ISP's and never had an issue with anything, and would not think the latest Asus would be, unless they are fighting a wi-fi7 issue with them! Are you on a CF connection just now!

Re: XER10 Modem mode

Yes, have been on a CF connection for years, came from Yayzi to SKY, so only needed an ONT change for once that supported 5gbps

On yayzi, it gave an ip via DHCP, and i had to create a 911 VLAN and i was away i ended up switching to N100 to run Opnsense

What i tried was plugging into 10gb port on the router configured to get ip via DHCP and set VLAN 911, but it would never connect. I left it for over an hour, as I know sometimes it can take a while to negotiate

But the XER10 seems to be a Comcast router underneath, as its even got Spanish (Mexican) and on some pages in the code it even says Comcast.

But if anyone can point me in the right direction, ill happily try it agai,n as it is working in  Bridge mode, but i would rather just remove the sky router

Thanks
