Wifi speed question

Wifi speed question

Hi everyone I've been having problems with my wifi and it's getting really annoying now. Does anyone know what speed I could expect upstairs in a normal 3 bed semi house? I'm on gigafast so would expect it to be somewhere between 150-300 maybe? , but can't even get above 90. Also can't watch a downloaded show on the sky q mini box! I've had a new hub sent out but that hasn't solved anything and I thought the q mini boxes were supposed to act as wifi boosters.

Realistically impossible to say, as it's hugely dependent on both building material and the local wireless environment (including what the neighbours over doing)

Not if you now have a white Max Hub.

Re: Wifi speed question

They just sent me the same black hub as I had before, what's the difference with the white one.

Just looking for a rough average, I know lots of different things affect it

Also very much depends on the client device.

The Max Hub is specified to WiFi 6, while the Sky Broadband Hub and Q Hub are WiFi 5.

If your router is on the ground floor & you are on the 3rd floor 90mbps would be considered quite good. If you want blazing fast speeds over 3 floors you likely need to invest in a 3rd party mesh system and ensure the device you are using is fully WiFi 6 compliant.

Re: Wifi speed question

The router is in the living room, it's the bedrooms upstairs that the signals low. Even by hard wiring my ps5 to the sky q mini box the highest speed I can get is 84mbps.

And the fact I can't watch a downloaded show either
