Wifi speed.drops constantly. Runs speed.test and I pay for 500mbps but get between 3 and 20 mbps

Wifi constantly running slow. I've got numerous speed results and I pay for 500mbps but with Speed tests I get between 3 and 20 mbps numerous times during the day, everyday. You are not providing what my contract says or I pay for...I've never had a date when speed is what I pay for, ever since my contract started...Peter

@Pete19691 you are not talking to Sky by posting in the forum. With full fibre it is likely you are getting around 550Mb/s at the hub something you can test by running a sped test on a device connected by an ethernet cable to the hub.

Sky like most ISPs cannot guarantee high speeds over wifi as every home is different as WiFi speeds are affected by the layout, type of construction and level of interference which are outside their control. Devices in the same room as the hub assuming it is not undercequipment or in a cupboard ought to be around 500Mb/s go a couple of rooms away and the speeds start to drop. Having the hub out in the open on a surface above things like radiators that block wifi signal can help. However in many homes like my own a single free hub from Sky wont be enough to provide fast wifi in every room.
