Wifi connection to mini bax

I have sky broadband, the router has been hard wired cable from the router into a remote garage. In order to get wifi in the garage I have repurposed an old BT wireless router. All works fine for wifi and even wifi for my new smart TV. However it won't broadcast skytv via a mini box on wifi. Signal drops after about 30seconds. So I want to know is this because of the BT router I'm using or is this not possible and I need to hard wire the mini box? And can I hard wire from the BT router or do I need to go back to the sky router.

A Q Mini won't stay connected over WiFi to any non-Sky device: you'd need to run it on ethernet cable with its own WiFi switched off.

Ethernet cable from the BT unit might work, or you could put an unmanaged ethernet switch on the end of the incoming cable and have both BT Hub and Q Mini running from that.
