Wifi connection in Garage

Hi,

I have tried getting the answer from sky on line help, but I can't find what i need!

My router is in my hallway, yet my wifi doesn't work if I am buy the back door of my house, ( my hall is next to kitchen and back door is in kitchen)

Now my issue is, I am setting up a gym in my garage, which is probably about 2 meters away from the house, and I need wifi for the treadmill, and wanted to set tv up so I can do the les mills app through the tv.

would a booster be strong enough to make the wifi work or am I going to need something else?

thank you in advanced for your answers

@dinosaur15 a booster needs a strong signal to boost so would not work if placed in the garage  if you want to stream video in the garage then you would be better advised to run an ethernet cable to the garage or buy a powerline adapter kit that uses the mains wiring to carry the data. Wifi signals loose power when they pass through walls the more solid the more power lost.

Re: Wifi connection in Garage

@Chrisee thank you for your answer, i did think that ethernet might be only option, going to have to get a very long one and chuck it out the window!!

wondering if the powerline would be strong enough as needs to go through internal wall, external wall, across garden and thorugh signle brick garage wall.

@dinosaur15 The only thing that affects powerline is the state of your home's mains wiring. Typically you get around 20 to 40% of the stated speed but given even UHD video only needs around 30Mb/s should be fine. Biggest gain though is the reduction in jitter thst poor wifi suffrrs from due to interfernce.

Re: Wifi connection in Garage

My setup is similar, very weak WIFi in garage.  I use Powerline adaptor in garage and ethernet cable to PC in garage, it works very well using Rouvy app (which streams video and data)  with my Smart Bike Trainer.
