Wifi booster doesnt seem to work

Over the past 2 weeks when working from home my wifi has been dropping. I can't do teams calls as noone can hear me although I can hear them. I've had to keep turning wifi on and off to solve it for a short time before it drops again.

I've reset my router and the booster but I believe it's the booster as I've now turned that off and things "seem" ok although my office is on the 3rd floor and wifi is on ground floor so the signal isn't the best.

Any ideas on how to fix the booster or I'm actually thinking it's just had it and I need a new one

Hi @k33wud

Which booster do you currently have? https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-booster-what-do-you-need-help-with

Where is the booster placed in relation to your hub & the 3rd floor office?

@k33wud No easy way off testing you booster or how effective it si going to be, what is the distance relationship between the two devices, and have you tried to move the POD closer to the hub if that is what you have! Link will shiw you about the booster's!

Re: Wifi booster doesnt seem to work

I have the Sky Broadband Booster which is sat on the middle floor. Everything has been working fine up until around 2 weeks ago and it's now pretty much useless.

I've turned it off and although my signal is only 2 bars (rather than 4) it's useable, which it wasnt with the booster

Re: Wifi booster doesnt seem to work

@k33wud You do have the three green lights on the Broadband booster, though it's an indication that it is connected, with it you should see a speed test difference with and without it in use if data is passing through it and you can determine if so!

Service Checker and broadband will show you if it is at least in a connected state!

@k33wud

Have you tried running through the troubleshooting for the booster which would be to reset it completely and then reconnect it?

Re: Wifi booster doesnt seem to work

Yes it has the 3 lights on. I've rebooted and reset a number of times.

When it's on and I speed test I get less than 3mbs which is also reflected in when i'm trying to work, wifi drops, teams doesnt work etc.

I've now switched off the booster and I get over 21mbs (while on a teams call).

I wonder if it's just broken?

@k33wud

Sounds like it could be faulty or the WiFi conditions around you have severely deteriorated. I would contact Sky and ask them if they will send a replacement.

Re: Wifi booster doesnt seem to work

@k33wud That is possible, when i used mine, was on constant for the 4 years off use, although sitting back in it's box when checked again on return to sky was working fine!
