An unmanaged ethernet switch may help, Netgear & TP-Link are a few of the popular brands. You can pick them up in places like Currys, Amazon & the like.

@111wave to explain a little more you need a switch not a splitter these are small powered boxes and you can buy them with as many ports as you want. They need not be expensive as the simple unmanaged variety are the best on a home network. You plug the feed from the router into any port and use the others for devices and your wifi access point. Some boosters have switches built-in but honestly buy a switch with a few extra ports for under £20 as thst gives you spare capacity for the future.

Thank you both. I will look into this, seems a bit of a mine field as so many to choose from and varied prices. Also is it worth paying more for a better quality ethernet cable - in and out?

Cat5e cable(s) should be more than adequate for most domestic needs. Anything beyond that and you may pay more and may not notice any difference.
