I've had this problem for ages now and have just been living with it. Really want to get it sorted.
We have 65-70 mb internet connection to our home.
HOWEVER, if the main sky tv box is on (even if only on standby with nothing streaming or downloading) then the WiFi speed is terrible.
What this means is that if the kids want to play online on PS5 or if my wife or I have an important work video call then we can only do this if we turn the TV box off at the plug.
When the TV box is off at the plug everything is perfect. Both kids can be playing online, both parents on video calls, Netflix streaming on phones, etc all simultaneously and flawlessly. (As you would expect from connection speed)
But turn on the sky box and it's just lag on everything.
The best way to describe it is that it feels as if when the sky tv box is on it's using 95% of the bandwidth leaving no capacity for anything else.
I've tried explaining to sky without success as the speed test results are always fine. I have a booster upstairs but that doesn't help.
anyone have any suggestions....?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Chriseley82 what is likely to be happening is the devices that are nearer the Sky box than the hub will connect to its wifi hotspot which has a stronger signal but can only deliver a slow connectionas that Q box has a poor connection tomthe hub itself. The cure is to improve the Q box's connection tomthe hub. Assuming neither can be moved and the using an ethernetvcable between thectwo is impractical you could buy a simple powerline networking kit where the adapters in the kit connect using your home's mains wiring improving the connection speed and therefore the speed its wifi hot spot can carry.

I have the same issue. Seems like sky limit the wifi bandwidth from the sky q boxes and min sky box. I have fibre and the new sky max hub. All works well when I connected to the broadband router via WiFi or wire. However if I go the master bed, where the wifi signal is strong via the mini sky q box, all slows down when my phone reconnect to the stronger sky q signal. Please note that my sky q box is wired, eg. Should be max speed. The seamless handover from signal to signal works very well. We need to contact sky to explain why the sky q boxes reduce the wifi signal bandwidth. Hope this helps
