Wondering if any experts on here could help me or give me any advice, I have my PS5/Xbox series X wired directly to the router for faster download speeds and a more reliable connection for online/multiplayer, but everytime the ethernet is connected it will knock the WiFi off at least once a day, and I have to reset the sky router, and then it will just keep disconnecting, unplugging the ethernet solves this and the WiFi stays on, I've already spoke to Sky about this and they don't need to seem what is wrong with it, it is extremely frustrating as I now have to leave the ethernet out and go with a wireless connection on my consoles

*seem to know what is wrong with it

@jamesn123 will do I will connect the ethernet to router again from my console and as soon as it drops I'll get a screenshot and stick it in here

@jamesn123 it has literally just dropped this morning, I tried to get the statistics as soon as it disconnected

I've got to physically reset the router when this happens as it will not reconnect by itself, any ideas?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYour screenshot shows your WAN interface is dropping completely so this would stop internet access for all devices. Strange that this would only happen when your on ethernet though.
The first troubleshooting step would certainly be a new router from Sky to make sure yours isnt faulty.
Usually I'd escalate your post to Sky for you to chat with them but the service is down at the moment so unfortunately you'll need to call again. Let them know exactly what happens and try to push for a replacement router to troubleshoot it

@jamesn123 I'm sure they've already replaced the router, tbh it's dropping without the ethernet connected also but the connection sorts itself out, but when I have the ethernet connected from my Xbox/PS5 it needs a reset as it doesn't seem to reconnect itself, so it's the ethernet part that concerns me I'll monitor it for a few days and see how often it drops

27 Jul 2023 03:16 PM
@jamesn123 FTTP, only reason I have the ethernet connected from my games consoles is to get the full speeds for downloading games, get around 250 wireless and 700-800 wired, big difference

More then likely the router, as when it disconnects all the lights are on the ONT still including the lan light, it's not went off once, when will the chat be back up and running it'll be easier explaining to them then over the phone as they will have my previous chat logs from the time I had one open a couple of weeks back

Understand this is an old thread, but did you ever get a solution as I have just moved over to sky and have exactly the same problem?

@Gouldy what is happening exactly, is the router rebooting? Or is the WiFi just dropping
