WiFi connection keeps dropping

For the past 2 days my WiFi connectivity has been shocking. Dropping after 10/15 minutes allowing me 10/15 minutes of activity then dropping again. I have used the test my service and it's saying it's great. It's not it is rubbish and has me at the point of wanting to find another provider

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

We've had Sky 300 full fibre via the Max Hub for 2 weeks. The speed check via the app always states 300mb to the hub, yet the WiFi is terrible. Sometimes the speed registers as 300mb, other times it's in single figures! Even standing right next to the hub can sometimes give a WiFi speed of 10mb. Using Sky Q and and mini boxes as boosters still doesn't seem to help with stability. The WiFi from the Sky Max Hub is not stable at all. Thoughts? Do we quit and go back to EE? The 3 of us living here have all noticed drop outs and slow down since we changed to Sky.

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

Just had broad band fibre installed 2 days ago. .Good download speed to the main Sky Q box (router in that room),  intermittent download speed (54Mbs now!) In the room with the Sky Mini Box. The Mini Box can't connect to the Sky Q box - not sure if the poor download speed is affecting this. Very, very frustrating

Have you got one of the 'new' white routers?

I was having loads of issues with WiFi and general speed issues as well and a Sky engineer came out. He stated that, in his opinion, the best thing way to resolve this was to change the white router to the last generation black one. Touch wood, he seemed to be correct, as the issues seemed to have improved tremendously.

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

Hello. We have the white "Max" Hub and are new to Sky. We are still in the cooling off period, so a decision will have to be made soon. We now have faster internet to the hub, but much poorer WiFi for the household. Pointless.

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

No I've got a black hub. It's really annoying tho as I've got sky stream too so as soon as it drops my tv goes with it 😏

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

Is your still showing the WiFi symbol whilst not connecting as that's what mine is doing. As soon as I switch my WiFi off on my phone, I can use everything fine on data. The app won't even load to test when it cuts out. Yet my TV is completely fine

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

I had the exact same issue. You could try lowering the WPA security settings on the hub from 3 to 2, which is what the engineer suggested. But mine was completely resolved when the hub was changed to the black hub.

Re: WiFi connection keeps dropping

We've had Sky Broadband for 2 years I think now and it was fine to begin with but is shockingly unstable now, get a reconnecting message on devices regularly through the day, can't get any sensible answer. Have run the checks but Sky insist it's all fine but it has really deteriorated recently!? Only two of us living at home now and it's rubbish.
