WiFi connection is very poor

Hi

 

My WiFi signal is very poor across the house despite the router being in the same position as the old BT one. The TV in the next room won't connect at all apart from through WPS but forgets it after powering down. Upstairs signal very patchy, daughter cannot connect with her TV at all. 

Please advise, I am thinking about moving back to BT if not resolved.
