WiFi Speeds Unstable

I have just had fibre broadband installed.

IMy WiFi speed is not consistent.Sometimes I get 90 Mbps down load and 34 Mbps second upload.Hoever other times in an identical location with the same Android tablet I get only

only around 35 Mbps upload and 30 mpbs upload.

The app I am using the measure the speeds alos monitors the WiFi channel.

It seems that when I have. 5.4 GHz connection I get the higher speed and when it's slow it's using the 2.4ghz band.

I also get a message "the maximum speed of WiFi is limited by the router or mobile device.

I would appreciate any advice as to what's happening

5Ghz is certainly capable of higher speed than 2.4Ghz

All current Sky Hub models broadcast the same SSID on both wireless bands, so your device may be swapping between these.

Re: WiFi Speeds Unstable

Thanks for your reply.

When the router is operating at 2.4 Ghz I get the slow speeds.

I don't understand why I get the message

"the maximum speed of WiFi is 35 mbs limited by the router or mobile device."

My speed measuring apps also shows WLAN real bit rate 39mbps

However when operating at 5.1 ghz I can download at 100 Mbps and  WLAN real bit rate  230 mbps.

Is it possible to set the router to 5 ghz only  and would that be a good idea?

Thanks.

@Jimopg

Best option would be to split your WiFi bands and then connect your devices directly to the 5ghz band.
