Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@adwarduk at a guess there is something odd about your current line if it isn't already Single Order Generic Ethernet Access which is the standard Openreach product Sky sell.
Do you pay line rental for a voice service from another telco? Some legacy issues like that can cause issues. If you complain Sky should switch you to a different service without charging cancellation charges. If they dont can you post again as either myself can raise this with our contacts at Sky.
Whether Wifi Max is worthwhile for a FTTC connection is doubtful as any device that offers wifi 6 support also supports wifi5 which can deliver well over 500Mb/s so more than sufficent to fully utlise your available external bandwidth. Your Stream pucks may support wifi 6 but can only use under30Mb/s so its pretty academic.

Throwing my experience in here. Disabling 5ghz does force connection to 2.4ghz as expected but then causes the hub to have a complete meltdown and lose connection, multiple restarts etc.
I received my new hub yesterday and by 11pm it was boxed back up ready to be returned. It's the most restrictive piece of Sky broadband kit I've ever had. Cannot split out the band names, cannot specify which channels to use (and this function won't be added, according to the very lengthy conversation I had with sky tech support last night) Despite the many unplanned restarts, the hub still selected the most congested 2.4 and 5ghz channels in my area, which I can't override.
I only "upgraded" because I was told I couldn't have sky broadband boost anymore as wifi max was superseding it. I've gone back to the old Sky Q broadband hub and will look into a wifi 6 router to use as an access point instead.

@Chrisee Thanks I'LL call again this morning. No the lines always been with sky for all services, the query sales mentioned around sogea was definitely a strange one to me. The primary reason I'm swapping is because the plume based kit works better for my internal network otherwise I'd not bother. I'll see what the sky team say today but it's very pot luck. Thankfully the rest of stream & the BB is good 90% of the time it's just the shame these annoying niggles always sour the situation

Presumably because it's not really 'Sky' kit. Unfortunately the decline in flexibility is almost certainly associated with the increase in automated functionality.

I don't think that's correct at all: as far as I'm aware Boost remains a live product associated with the Sky Broadband Hub.

Im fully on sky stream was just a painful switch. Currently on superfast syncing at 79.9mb. Wanted to go max for the wifi6 for the improved comms on the WiFi network in general. And know on anything but ultrafast the guarentee is only 10mb. Tbh I suspect its an issue on my account
It's 10Mbps on Superfast and 25Mbps for Ultrafast and above @adwarduk

This was customers initial query and they have sky fttc vdsl2 and sky stream
"the last advisors now stating I have to be sogea to get the service."
I couldn't find anything in the closed forum restricting sky max hub to sogea. Any thoughts

@TimmyBGood the initial customer service rep I spoke to yesterday said the same ie boost still exists for broadband hub users. But she asked if she could call me back once she'd double checked.
After speaking to her manager and the products team she called back and confirmed that Sky boost was now a legacy product and couldn't be added anymore. So I can't add it on.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI'll ask the question elsewhere. Given the current limits of Max (particularly incompatibility with Q television) that would seem strange, although the value of Boost was undoubtedly decreased by the closure of Broadband Buddy.

I had raised that with the cnmmunity managers. They will investigate the sogea issue and get back to us
