The extender should be placed halfway between the router and wherever you need the signal. They can only boost a decent signal further. If needed (presuming you're on the Sky WiFi Max add-on) then you can call them and ask for an engineer visit who may decide you need 1 or perhaps 2 further extender and locate the best locations for them.
