Why did Sky not cancel my previous supplier as promised?

I just need to find out why Sky didn't cancel my previous provider Virgin as promised. I only found out 3 weeks later that they didn't and now they want 7 weeks pay for a service I haven't needed since switching to sky to try save money!

If you now have both Sky Broadband and Sky television, 'switching' from Virgin only moved the broadband.

The one-touch-switch system doesn't cover subscription television service even when both ISPs (typically Sky, Virgin and EE) are also television providers.  Unfortunately you'd be far from the first user caught out by this.

Another provider cannot cancel TV services only Broadband. As you've posted on the Sky Q board I'm assuming you're referring to a TV subscription.

This is an interesting one because as far as I know you can't have Virgin television without Virgin (cable) broadband, but it appears Virgin still charges for an impossible partial service.

Just to add, one-touch-switch is a UK thing, not RoI.

Sky said they'd sort it all out. Virgin are writing to me saying I owe them €106

Raise a complaint and ask them to check the recordings of the calls.

also, if you haven't already, cancel the Virgin services.

Re: Why did Sky not cancel my previous supplier as promised?

I just found out that I have being paying Virgin Media for nearly a year after Sky said they would cancel my Virgin Media account. I stupidly did not check if it was cancelled but Sky said they would look after cancelling of everything. I know people on here are saying that they could only cancel the broadband but I specifically asked the guy if i need to contact virgin media and he said NO, that we look after all of the cancelling of your previous supplier. Just want to know if this has happened anyone else, as i have paid over €1,300 to Virgin media since I switch to sky.

Unfortunately that was incorrect with regards to a Virgin television subscription.

Re: Why did Sky not cancel my previous supplier as promised?

@TimmyBGood  You've said that this is incorrect a couple of times on this thread, which is not really helpful. Sky saying they were looking after cancelling all my Virgin Media subscription may be incorrect but that is exactly what he said to me and it looks like I'm not the only one that has been told this.

Unfortunately individual contact centre personnel undoubtedly sometime make mistakes, and that's the angle you need to persue.
