That may be akin to the alarm light on other onts sigmifying the battery backup unit isn't charging . You should be able to remove the cover and see to units the ont and the battery backup. Have a look to see if you can bypass the battery by plugging the lead into it into the ont instead. Other than that since openreach don't issue that ont anymore you may want to call sky to replace it

As @cookiemonsteruk indicates, that's an indicator light on the Battery Backup Unit to show it's no longer capable of holding a useful charge: as you've discovered this doesn't actually affect the broadband itself.
The BBU is obsolete anyway because it doesn't provide power to an ISP router, so cannot keep broadband going during a power cut.

True, but without a UPS for the router there's not really much point, other than to stop the fault light glowing.
