Weak broadband signal from router

Just changed from Talktalk to Sky Broadband.

However the Sky signal on the router is not as strong as Talktalk.

It will not pickup the Skjy Q box in the bedroom and it is only showing 1 or 2 bars on my study desktop pc.

The location is exactly the same for both routers.

suggestions please?

Since you have Sky Q, you should report it as a Sky Q problem and then Sky will be obliged to provide you with a booster FOC.

Thank you for your reply and suggestion.

However Sky wants £6.50 per month on a 18 month contract.

I do not think that this is good customer service, plus it will make it more expensive than my original Talktalk account.

@althorpe

Have they said what the £6.50 is for? I assume they are trying to sell you broadband boost or something but if a Sky Q box isnt working due to a range issue this should be a free booster

Re: Weak broadband signal from router

Yes it is up to two booster boxes.

The Customer Services team seem set on selling them as an additional cost.

The Talktalk router worked fine and I never experienced any  freezing problems due to poor range.

I'll escalate your post here so you can chat with a Sky advisor on the forum. Just note that it isnt a live chat so responses wont be instant. Look out for a message or popup in the corner of your screen.

When you talk to them make sure you talk about it being a Sky Q box issue and not a WiFi range issue.

Re: Weak broadband signal from router

I have just changed from Talktalk to Sky Broadband.

However it appears that the transmission range or signal strength on the Sky router is not as strong as Talktalk.

I am getting around 48mbs on the speed trust site which is acceptable but the Sky Q mini box picture keeps freezing and pixelated graphics appear.

I have rebooted and turned all other devices off, but the picture still breaks up
