WIFI intermittent

Past 2 days my Internet has been very unreliable. The speed drops randomly to way below the agreed minimum speed then the WIFI cuts off altogether then when I hold the WPS button on my router the device resets and the signal returns but very slowly. After about an hour the speed returns to normal but still randomly drops below the agreed minimum speed.

@Insert+insult+her log into the online service checker in the My Sky app orcwebsite and check thecspedds Sky measure to your hub. Do these show a slow down. Are you using a partial fibre connection of a full fibre connection?

If you want to reboot the hub simply disconnect the power for a few seconds the WPS button if held down for 30 seconds does a full factory reset which takes far longer and potentially can btick the hub if power is lost.

Re: WIFI intermittent

Hi, i have done all these steps yesterday but still got the same result during the night and a new post of sometimes SKY do scheduled maintenance at night which makes sense but still it does not fit into the category of the advertised "it just works".

I will contact customer support shortly and get it looked at. Maybe I need a more up to date router or my wider connection looked at. I have never trusted a tool provided by the company I am with to identity an issue with my line, only a truly independent tool can give accurate data.

Thanks for the help though.

Unfortunately most posters to this forum use those independent tools inappropriately, particularly by running 'speed tests' on wireless devices.

Re: WIFI intermittent

If I contracted a WIFI device to run as a WIFI device why would I want to use a rest that uses a wired connection?

I get what you are saying about WIFI signal and potential blocks but I was actually on about the in app check tool that always says I have a reliable connection even when I am having issues connecting when using an ethernet cable.

If the Internet is advertised as "it just works" then I would expect it to live up to that claim otherwise it isn't fit for purpose and the contract void as a result.

An independent tool will always give a more accurate result when using either a WIFI or ethernet connection.

Once again, thanks for the reply

'Accurate' for what though?

A download speed test running on a wireless device cannot 'accurately' report speed arriving at the router, simply because there's an inevitable and variable loss involved in WiFi transmission/reception.

Re: WIFI intermittent

Ok, at this point I think your not getting the point and not actually providing community help or support.

Thank you for the reply and the assistance but I feel we are far from a resolution and I would be better off speaking to SKY themselves to get this resolved.

Hope you have a great rest of the day
