Very Slow Wifi While Waiting for Upgrade
I am a current Sky Broadband Superfast customer and my area has recently had Full Fibre installed. I have arranged to have my service upgraded to the Gigafast service and am awaiting an engineer coming out to do this (planned for next week). However, ever since a few days after I selected to upgrade my service, the internet speeds I am getting are VERY slow (currently at 9.2Mb/s, whilst on 15th November I was getting 34.8Mb/s, which is approximately what I was getting for all the time before that). These speeds are from the Sky Service Checker, which displays that my speed went from 34.8Mb/s on 15th Nov to 14.3Mb/s on 16th Nov and has stayed between 9-13Mb/s since then.
I have no idea what is causing this, could it be to do with the installation of my upgraded service? I can only go so far on the Service Checker because it eventually just says that I already have an engineer booked, referring to the engineer that is planned to install Gigafast.
If I have to wait until the faster internet is installed then so be it, but if I can go back to relatively usable speeds then I'd prefer it!

Re: Very Slow Wifi While Waiting for Upgrade
@mackem93 your current issue cannot be related to the future installation of a full fibre line as your current service is over your copper phone line which becomes redundant next week. Far more likely is that the recent bad weather is the culprit. It has affected numerous copper lines as water, high frequency electricalsignals and old copper.phone lines are a bad mixture. The good news is full fibre is immune from this issue as unless a storm brings down a line it keeps going.
You could report the fault but given the planned suspension of the FTTC service next week Openreach will not do anything. Technically you maybe able to claim on the speed guarantee (see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-broadband-speed-guarantee) but personally I wouldn't bother.
