Upgrading to fibre

I am upgrading to sky fibre and was told to expect a parcel, all that it is in the parcel is an Ethernet cable!!!! Is that correct?

Yep.  Sky call it an conversion kit . It will connect the ont to lan port 4 on the sky hub

Sky supplies the Max Hub by default for new customers taking FTTP, but upgraders who already have a Sky Broadband Hub get to use that, with the 'conversion kit', unless they opt to add the WiFi Max subscription supplement.

So same I got my kit , ethernet cable . I have an engineer booked for 18/2 do i do anything with this cable before then . Instructions with said cable presume i am a new customer , but we only have sky broadband at the minute ( no q box or any other box with them)
