Upgrading broadband

I currently have fibre broadband with sky and I am upgrading to ultrafast+ . They are going to send out a new hub router and then there is a new activation date. Should the new hub just turn up in the next couple of days and then I can just use it straight away as I already have broadband through sky? Or do I need to wait for my activation date?
