Upgrade to GigaFast+ Hub
I recently moved to Sky broadband with the Full Fibre Gigafast package (900Mbps). This came with the Sky Max Hub and unfortuanetly it only has 3 LAN ports, with the 4th used as the WAN port. My current home network setup is assuming the use of 4 LAN ports and I see that the Gigafast+ Hub has 4. Is there anyway to uppgrade to this hub, without having one of the Gigafast+ broadband packages ?

@gmhaggis No, but you can go buy and add on a Gigabyte unmanaged switch to take care of the number off ports that you require and an additional patch cable if the switch does not come with one!

That hardware is currently only allocated to Sky Broadband customers who are connected over CityFibre infrastructure.

I realise that, but was hoping to be able to avoid another piece of hardware with another power supply. Previously, the 4 hub LAN ports conveniently connected to 4 patch panel ports, activating 4 ethernet ports around my apartment. Even a 2 way splitter/switch would require a power supply.

I am actually on CityFIbre infrastructure. It was CityFibre engineers that installed the fibre network cable into my flat and the ONT is clearly branded CityFibre.

@gmhaggis Few out there that require no power and drop the speed to fast Ethernet but it's all your choice!

Re: Upgrade to GigaFast+ Hub
I have just managed to place a order with sky full fibre gigafast 900 speed and im due to get the white router, but im after the gigafast plus hub as I was used to EE smart hub pro 7 i think it was called. However when I was speaking with sky last night they can place an order for the new router for if your on Full fibre 900 but comes with one of cost of £49.99 which if its anything like EE latest hub reaches every dark hole of your house and back bedrooms etc. Just thought this would be worth mentioning to get the better router and at least there is an option when you phone up.

Re: Upgrade to GigaFast+ Hub
I switched within the 14 days when I did my order as never gave me the router in the end so not sure what one advisor was on about. However Sky now offer 1.6gb speed so the new wifi 7 router will be available when purchasing thats through Openreach as cityfibre not available here.
Just curious on performance compared to EE smart hub pro wifi 7 router, also the price difference is tempting.

Re: Upgrade to GigaFast+ Hub
@Blewis1973 in the UK Sky currently only provide the Gigafast + hub aka Hub7 to customers buying the Gigafast+ services which are 2.5Gb/s and 5Gb/s services that use the. City Fibre service. It will also be provided to new customers buying the 1.6Gb/s service on Openreach lines but currently existing Sky broadband customers cannot upgrade to that tier. Sky lreland are different.
The range of the Hub 7 from reports is very similar to the Hub 6 both can deliver WiFi speeds over 1Gb/s the Hub 7 does have one 10Gb/s Ethernet LAN port. Only the hub's themselves support WiFi 6 or 7 any extender pods are limited to WiFi5. If you are expecting a huge upgrade you will be disappointed. The brief superusers had for these changes did not say a hub 7 can be supplied for a one off fee. .
