Two fibre questions
Hi, I have two questions about fibre installing that is due to happen next week.
1) I have a WiFi extender due to poor connection in my room. Will it still work after fibre or will I need to change the log in details etc? Do I get a new router?
2) Open reach couldn't set up the wires a few days before the appointment so said they'd do it on th same day as Sky. I've just had this text:
"Hi, Openreach will now complete the set up in your home, so it will be their engineer who arrives on the day. Any problems, give us a call."
what does this mean?
thanks

Re: Two fibre questions
@Pinkteddy123 As long as your sky Hub is not being replaced with your fibre upgrade, and ALSO if/when it gets moved to accomidate the position for your NEW fibre connection with the ONT, and your extender that you do not say how it is connected so just going to assume you have it all wireless wifi connected, can reach signal from the Hub/Extender then there should be NOTHING for you to do, Hub off move it and connect it up to the Lan connection on your new ONT.....
If everything is 100% done correct, the ONT goes live on the Fibre, the old copper starts to go off, and you are now live on the New connection.....
The Landline if you are using will take 24-48hrs to swing over onto the new Digital connection, and if not that way now then it connects INTO the back off the sky Hub...
Engineer installing will check they are done, make sure you have 1 connection and the rest is all down to you for everything else!

Re: Two fibre questions
@Pinkteddy123 Answers below!
1. If you do get a new hub, you need to do the required change, you should have been advised at your upgrade order what was going to happen, look at any e-mails etc or on your sky account My Messages/Orders!
2. If it goes pear shaped, then as long as the FF does not work, you will be left on the copper until OR sort it out, hopefully no guarantees on that one though! Sky are/is your contact for everything as soon as the Installation team walk away...
