Fibre optics itself obviously has no electrical current but the internal ONT is essentially a cable modem which is why it needs to be plugged. Have you tried a different socket (using an extension if needed) for the ONT and the router? Perhaps switch the ONT off, pull out the power cable to the box and re-seat it before turning on again?
How often is this happening?
