Re: Terrible WiFi

I used Virgin Media for 5+ years waiting for Openreach to instal FTTP on our street.  Openreach finally installed the cables on our street about 6 months and I moved to Sky FF500 and no regrets. I even cut all Virgin Media cable including the box on the exterior wall so I never have to switch back to Virgin Media.

You are unhappy with Wi-Fi which is different than internet connection to property. There is different between router Virgin Media and Sky supply. What router setup was you using on Virgin Media and which router you have on Sky?

Re: Terrible WiFi

We've been with Sky a while and it's always been fine until ... we 'upgraded' to fibre.  Now it's absolutely awful.  No connection at all in some rooms, really slow, and even my  computer which is about 10 feet away, in a straight line and with nothing in between, from the router, keeps losing signal.

Re: Terrible WiFi

If you have the same Sky router since upgrade then Wi-Fi should not be affected. You may have a fault in the line that may need checking.

I used my own router to manage the Wi-Fi connected to both Virgin Media router and Sky router. As my own router was not changed...I noticed no difference in Wi-Fi between Virgin Media and Sky.

That's not necessarily the case: it's intrinsic to the nature of WiFi that it's affected by changes both within the subscription address and even external to it.

The other big difference can be the move to a white Max Hub, which seem to perform particularly poorly in some properties.

Re: Terrible WiFi

@DanG3 suggest you contact Sky and enquire about their WiFi Max  see this

The WiFi signal around your house is based both on  the placement and quality of the Sky supplied hub. Not all ISP hubs are equal and so people conclude one ISP was better than another, when in reality it may just be the supplied hub.

I , like many others, use their own equipment for getting WiFi throughout their home.
