Temporary broadband to bridge the gap

I have a month to wait until an engineer is available to install the broadband i've purchased. I understand that if i purchased the basic broadband package, Sky could switch it over today. Are Sky able to provide basic broadband whilst I await the engineer?

No: provisioning 'basic broadband' (presumably ADSL or FTTC) still has both a lead time and a set-up cost charged by Openreach to the ISP, which is why no ISP will provision such service during a wait for FTTP infrastructure to be installed (for which they will also be charged).

@Natsembee  No as Sky do not offer 31 day contracts, you're best looking down the mobile broadband route for the short time you're waiting.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
