Hiya .
Ive been trying to use a different ADSL router to the sky hub but cant get it to work.
It asks me for settings, so i select sky broadband and PPPoE/A then use anything@skydsl|anything as username and password based on a thread i saw here, but nothing seems to work. Is this modem compatible with sky broadband? Will the more expensive VDSL router work(TD-W9970)? Ive attached a screenshot for the settings.
If someone could give me advice on how to connect it that would be great, thanks.

If you are on sky essentials adsl then try
For ADSL2+
Username: install at o2broadband.co.uk (the at needs changing to @ and spaces removed)
Password: Leave blank
Connection Type: PPPoA
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

Hiya, @cookiemonsteruk thanks for your suggestion. I think I do have sky essential as before I could not use the old router anymore it only reached 3mb/s in speedtests, and lower when downloading files etc. I found a way to discover your username/pswd using wireshark but i don't have access to the old modem.
I have tried using the username you suggested however it leads to error 3000 and 3001 with the message: no dns server available.
If i put it in the password field i get the usual error of 3004 CHAP: login to remote failed; please check user/pwd
Do you have any clue what these errors might mean?
Thanks,
Patryk

Find out more@Patryk-k changing the router is unlikely to improve connection speeds on a ADSL service as that is primarily influenced by the length and condition of the copper line to the exchange. Can you post the connection ststs from your Sky hub when connected see Find your Sky Broadband router statistics

First off, are you sure it's ADSL as it seems that router won't work with FTTC according to:-

@Chrisee im just looking to get my internet back up and running as I cant use the original modem anymore.
@Anonymous I think its ADSL since theres a phone filter and the speeds were atrocious. Fttc speeds are available though, what modem would work with fttc? Do you think the other VDSL2 modem from tp link would work?

Speeds while generally higher with VDSL are not an indicator of technology as a few lines can be faster with ADSL than VDSL. Normally Essentials plus is an ADSL service.

You could still be using an inline filter with FTTC as the last stretch is the copper pair. If you have a modern BT master socket it will have built in filters and you shouldn't be using the external filter as well. I can't help with your other questions I'm afraid.
