Synology NAS Port Forwarding Not Working

Hi all,

I am trying to forward a port to my Synology NAS but no matter what I try it doesn't seem to be working.

Previously, I had to call up Sky to fix port forwarding for my other devices and that started working after a few days (on my iMac, MacBook, Lenovo).

It seems that it's just my Synology that it doesn't work on. I know you might be thinking it's an issue with the Synology (since it works on other devices), however, I have done some extensive troubleshooting across the internet with authors of Synology guides and it's led me to believe that it's either with Sky or the router.

  • I am on Sky Gigafast with the Sky Max Hub / Hub 6 / SR213 (White).
  • Port forwarding rules are through the MySky app. I have no VPN and I have been testing with/without firewalls both on Sky and on the Synology.
  • Does not work even when assigning a static IP on my router, on the NAS, both, or neither (DHCP).
  • NAS connectivity is fine; just port forwarding doesn't work.
  • MAP-T is enabled with a sharing ratio of 1:1.
  • Enabling UPnP doesn't work
  • Multiple reboots of NAS & router between steps hasn't worked

Thank you.

Thank you.

I'm currently in contact with them. Nothing has worked so far but I will provide an update in due course.

Re: Synology NAS Port Forwarding Not Working

Hi, what would be helpful is hsaring potential solutions, rather than taking it offline.

I too have a synology NAS that wont work because of the SKY router, and reading countless boards and internet discussions we're not alone. SO maybe SKY could share potential solutions that clearly lots of ppl require help with rather than taking it offline - which might help 1 person, but could help 100s if you published it.

Re: Synology NAS Port Forwarding Not Working

Hi All,

I recently recieved my Sky Hub Max, successfully set up Static IPs forr my Synology NAS and CCTV,  then set up Port Forwarding for them. These were working fine for about 1 week, but 2 days ago stopped working.

The Rules were still showing in the app, but no traffic was being allowed through.

Re: Synology NAS Port Forwarding Not Working

@SteveJ3333 are you connecting to them within the local network or from the web?  Maybe you've been assigned a new IP address if the latter because Sky doesn't offer fixed IP addresses to domestic customers so the IP could easily have been assigned a new address.  If that's the case there are a free dynamic DNS provider  like No-IP etc

Re: Synology NAS Port Forwarding Not Working

Hi, thanks for the thought, but I use no-ip for my IP Address updating. I checked and it's using my latest one assigned by Sky.

I removed the original rules, no when trying to create them again, I get "oops something went wrong, please close this box and try again" every time I try.

Re: Synology NAS Port Forwarding Not Working

I got the Sky Max hub too and got to say it is useless and a pain to alter any details, I get the 'oops' just trying to rename  anything connected to the wifi.  Sadly I'm stuck with it cos of having the landline, if you don't need the landline I'd consider getting something else as you can always pick up new unwanted routers cheap on eBay .  Luckily for me all my CCTV FTP etc works via the local network and no need to access from an outside IP. I picked up another router to run as an access point for wifi/ethernet in the middle of the house and it's so much easier and was  £25  well spent.
