Sync speeds on full fibre

Just had full fibre installed yesterday, and I am aware you can't see the up and down load speeds via the router like we used to. Apart from a speed test, how do we see what we are getting?  I ask as was told would take a few days to settle and when running speed tests getting from 7mb to 520mb depending on when I do the test.

Are you checking speeds via Wi-Fi ? If you can connect a pc/laptop directly to the router via Ethernet then a Speedtest will tell you what speed the router is receiving.

wifi speeds around the home will generally be lower. 
I get 930 Mb when connected with Ethernet (Sky Gigafast) but when measuring via Wi-Fi the max I get is around 650 Mb

Im more wanting to know how you check instead of running a test. I ask as I used to have a lot of uses with ADSL and so kept an eye on what the DL/UL was via the router settings. As this is now not there how is the best way to check?

I get about the speed tests etc via Ethernet, but in my house we don't have a laptop, just iPhones and iPad. I do have Xbox wired up via Ethernet so that can do a test but as only on 500mb anyway so is about the same as Wi-Fi.

On GPON your 'sync' rates are always fixed - 2.488 Gbps downstream and 1.244 Gbps upstream.

The ONT is either connected or not connected, these rates do not vary and thus there is nothing to measure and display.
