Switching from another CityFibre provider
Just wondering if anyone else had a engineer out when switching from another cityfibre provider?
There appears to be an engineer booked for ours and we're switching on same speed (900 for 900) but its booked an engineer, will someone actually come? On the order email it does have a "FTTP ONT Repair £0.00" under one off costs.

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@protocol Another OP raised the same question the other day moving from VF to sky on a CF Fibre connection, it is propossed that the ONT needs to be swapped out, so it may just be the case, NOT much on the Forum CF wise as it is all so new! All i can say, swapping over on an OR connection it was not required to do so EE back to Sky!

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
From my quick research I appear to be on GPON whilst new deployments are all mostly XGS-PON so perhaps it will be upgraded to that although it doesnt seem to be necessary for services under 2G.
I guess i'll find out later this week what they will actually do and report back!

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@protocol That's the way to do it, so little knowledge regarding what the CF do's and do nots with regard to what, Gpon to XGS for sure would be one reason but who knows. What speed package are you going for, you would need to be heading for the Gigabit+ to require XGS for sure!

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
They did indeed replace non XGS ONT to XGS one which is twice as big and just about fit. I can also use my own mesh router straight into the ONT without any configuration (old provider needed vlan/login)!

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@protocol Was it because they wanted to have you upto the XGS-PON in the area and that without a doubt requires a different ONT installed, or because of the Vlan ID which is something that sky do not need, or because special FW was applied to the older and it had to be swapped out! Just multiple ways for connecting, but sounds like you are up and running with no issues!

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
I'm trying to switch Cityfibre IDNet connection to Cityfibre Sky but the sky switching page can't find my idnet account details. I've copy and pasted the details directly from the bill to ensure accuracy but sky won't take it.

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@MPro What is available to you link wise from sky see the Fibre connection link, not all CF systems can be transfered to a sky account! Symmetrical speeds would indicate CF for sure!

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@MPro Are you just trying to OTS over on the sky system, would think ID would be part of that and sky takes care off it all!
At the Sky side the CF business does have a specialist team taking care off a lot i think as the CF is all just so new and not very much exposure on the Forum! May be worth a call, but 8am to 8pm are the opening times! Good luck with it all!👍

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@Jim yes trying OTS over sky system shows the switcher page does have IDnet on the drop down list of ISP's to choose from. I will call in the morning and update here on what happens! Searching on the Web shows Sky OTS can have issues when addresses are not perfectly matched. Should find out what's going on shortly

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@MPro At least IDnet are part off the OTS service so it's all down to CF supplying sky in your area!

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@JimM1 no I think this one is down to the OTS issue rather than a supply problem with Cityfibre, as i tested a sky 5gig order without OTS and it progresses through without issue. But going the OTS route, reveals sky can't find my idnet account details. I think my address is slightly different between the two databases but will double check first thing, otherwise I'll just do a cease and re-provide order with sky instead. A hassle for sure so hopefully tomorrow we can avoid that.

Re: Switching from another CityFibre provider
@MPro Best to try and avoid the cease if you can, saves you getting blocked for the duration and IDnet holding you to the cease time!
Your not needing anything special from sky that you get with the IDnet service, and hopefully you are using your own Router and not going to rely on the sky one!
