Switch off 5G temporarily?

I recently joined Sky (dual band) broadband and have lost connection with my 2.4 GHz internet radio. The radio manufacturer suggests that I switch off the 5Ghz band, then reprogram the radio using the 2.4 G signal, then switch on 5G when finished. How do I do this?
