Superfast indtall

Hi apologies not technically minded but hope this makes sense to someone. moving over to superfast broadband. Openreach finally got all the fibre connected but said sky need to send an engineer out to scan the barcode/number on ONT box to get Openreach to turn it on and broadband to work. Sky then text to say already to go just plug in router. It doesn't work and red light on the PON part of box. Sky saying there is an issue outside which there maybe but I am wondering is it because no sky engineer has been and taken the barcode/number of the box to get Openreach to turn it on. Can sky do this remotely without the number. Thanks for any help

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Rebecca36 the red light indicates not signal to the ONT which means tge fibre line is broken. Openreach will need to find the break and repair it before the ONT will work the scanning of the code is a 10 second job

  • Thanks for that, I get its a 10 second job but does it have to be done first to get the broadband to the box?
