Supafast Broadband Router and new Fibre Broadband compatibility

Having new Fibre Broadband fitted today. Openreach instruction video says they'll connect new cabling to new router. Sky won't provide new router until cable installed! But also say new cable will fit old router (supafast broadband) until new and correct router arrives. Is this right?

Openreach have been out once and dudnt do the job (need new router). Rang Sky and they assured me it would connect until new router arrives for me to plug in. Is this right? I don't want to be without internet for a few days re my job. If anybody knows it would be a massive help. Thanks. Stuart

Re: Supafast Broadband Router and new Fibre Broadband compatibility

Thank you.

The Openreach engineer said the one I currently have (which I got when we first got Sky Q 9 years ago) is not compatible. It only has 2 ethernet ports and he said we need a port with a WAN connectibility.

I've spoken to Sky and the matter is being resolved by cancelling my original order (as the router is in limbo!!!). This will allow me to re order and get the router prior to the engineer arriving to install and connect.

Thanks for your reply and advice. 👍

No need for any responses. It can't be done without a new router. Cancelled the job and started all over again. 👍

The Sky Broadband Hub and Max Hub models are completely compatible with full fibre broadband (FTTP)

The Q Hub (ER115) is unofficially compatible with full fibre by connecting the Openreach ONT to the ethernet port marked WAN on the Hub but cannot support Sky Talk Internet Calls.
