Sr203 or sr204

I've just upgraded from.'Ultrafast1' to 'full fibre gigafast' and as part of that I was sent a new SR203 router. I already have an SR204 router with the previous set up.

Are there any real differences / advantages to either and should I just stick with my existing router?

The only difference is a vdsl modem in the sr203 and g.fast modem in the sr204 . They both should be able to function on full fibre fttp  lines

The only real issue is whether the automated Sky logistics system expects the 204 to be returned, given it's despatched a 203 for no particularly good reason.

Re: Sr203 or sr204

Just had the same, currently on an SR204 on ultrafast and having FF installed Thursday and they sent me an SR203 boxed 2022.

Seems odd, surely best to keep the SR204 being more modern?

How did you get on OP?

Cheers

They are exactly the same age, both being the Sky Broadband Hub first released in 2019.  The slight difference in model number differentiates the FTTC from the G.fast version.

Re: Sr203 or sr204

The engineer said there's no practical difference and if the existing router was working OK, then stick with it.

So I did and it's all good

@Miles+Brasher that us correct the two models are identical except for the differences in the modem stage which isnt used for full fibre. Sticking with the same router saves a lot of messing around reconnecting devices or repropramming the hub.

Sky really dont care which model you return as new GFast connections are extremly rare.

Re: Sr203 or sr204

Hi, just in case anyone else comes across this thread the SR204 would not maintain any decent speeds, we ended up using the SR203 provided when I ordered FF 500.  The engineer had no clue if they were different or why the 204 would not give anything over 50mb. Sitting comfortably on 450 on the 203. It's been spot on.  Thanks for everyone's comments. Cheers

Re: Sr203 or sr204

Exactly the same. Going to ff900 next week, presently have sr204 hub and being sent sr203 with sky q and use 2 hard wired ethernet ports and 4 wifi minis 1 , old sky booster in a large house. So are you still happy using the 203 sent?. Also does it work OK with q and minis? And how is your wifi reception around the house compared to the 204. Thanks.

The wireless chipset and aerial is identical: the only difference is the 204 has a G.fast modem.
