Splitting 2.4 and 5ghz

Hello,

I am new to Sky and wondered if I could have some help in setting up my devices that only run on 2.4ghz.

I have read that my Eufy cameras only run on 2.4ghz and that I could enter the hub settings and turn off the  5ghz while I connect my cameras.  I then understand I can turn my 5ghz back on and the cameras will continue to work.

Can somebody please tell me if turning off the syncronization effectively turns off the 5ghz?

thanks

Les C

@LesCotters in addition to the link @Highlinder  has given, spiltting the bands doesn't turn the 5Ghz off

@LesCotters  Information on how to split the Wi-Fi frequencies can be found in the link below.

@LesCotters the problem is some devices like your cameras cannot link to the dualband SSID modern rourers like Sky hubs offer by default. Normally the work round is to separate the two bands using the instructions @Highlinder linked to. Then you can link the cameras to the 2.4GHz band SSID and they will ignore the 5GHz SSID.

Your other devices will remain connected to whichevr SSID you did not rename given the 5GHz band should be faster for devices that can use it I always rename the 2.4GHz band to save a lot of re-configuration..

Re: Splitting 2.4 and 5ghz

I need to do this to connect a Broadlink RM Pro, as apparently this only works on 2.4ghz. Will this cause the rest of my connected devices to need to be reconnected, as that is probaby more trouble than it is worth?

Anything connected to a renamed SSID will drop connection and need to be taught to use the 'new' one.

How do you rename the 2.4 ghz name? I can't, for the life of me, find the sub menu. I am using my iPad as I don't have a laptop.

Where, in the photos, is the drop-down box to rename?

@Daveshep234

It's a not a dropdown, in the first pic where it shows Name (SSID), that's a free text field you can choose your own name for the 2.4 band

Re: Splitting 2.4 and 5ghz

That worked. To me, a drop down box is different to the ssid box, which was cause of the confusion.
Cheers
