Re: Speed seems to be dropping on a daily basis!

New modem/router arrived (Not a Sky one) - plugged in and all seems a lot more stable. Will check uptime when i get home to check if its dropped during the day, but this morning it had been up for 10 hours.

However, i think all resets the old box have done has dropped the speeds down to to 14mb!!!! Upload is nearly quicker at 11mb!

Really had enough now - need to get the DLM reset at the cabinet and monitor again.  Anybody know how to request one?

Re: Speed seems to be dropping on a daily basis!

Plugged sky router back in when i got home from work, no connection...  Went through website on phone and an engineer booked.

No connection still after approx 30 minutes, ended up ringing sky.  They confimed that they could not connect to box. (Surprise)

According to advisor engineer should be here today, order tracking currently does not give a date.

Advised the advisor, that the engineer 10 days ago said nothing wrong with line and chances are it would be the sky q router - Advisor says its a line issue, and very rare that routers go wrong.

I plugged my TP-link back in, and this connected instantly, but at the speeds i posted earlier - advisor did not take any of this on board and just said the engineer would be out to check line/cabinet and would not need access to the home.

Checked stats this morning, and i had 1 disconnect at 07:08, so up for over 12 hours.  Router reconnect in less that 1 minute.

Hopefully engineer arrives today and can sort the line, and also advise sky that there is an issue with the Sky router - if they dont send a new one, at least it will be a quick way of getting an engineer in future as i just need to plug it in and wait for it to fail.

Re: Speed seems to be dropping on a daily basis!

Engineer came.

Line was perfect apparently, got speeds back to 40mb which i would normally be happy with, they even got the sky router connected, before reverting back to the TP-Link which matched the speeds.

2 hours later - back to square one, constant disconnects and speeds dropped to 13mb again. Sky router wont connect at all.

Speaking to engineer, he mentioned that it could be a REIN issue, so need to pick up a AM radio to see if i can track down any interference from surrounding appliances.

Really pulling my hair out now (not that i have much left)

Re: Speed seems to be dropping on a daily basis!

Couldnt pick any interference up.

Unplugged anything close to the router - TV etc, disconnected the ring door bell - no difference

20 disconnects in the space of 2 1/2 hours.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Saint+Viper sorry but you need to call Sky to get the line checked but it would probably require you to leave The Sky hub connected as their disgnostics require that. Msybe worth leaving the call until after tomorrow as the support systems will be effectively down.

Re: Speed seems to be dropping on a daily basis!

Got a 3rd engineer booked for this month alone.

I cannot leave the sky router connected as that results in no internet at all.

My own router gets a connection, just at reduced speed and the fear of a disconnect at any moment.

Bit of a nightmare with a 10 year old, and alos a wife who WFH 2 days a week...

Re: Speed seems to be dropping on a daily basis!

Finally sorted!!!

Turns out there was a loose connection in the box just outside the house, depending on the weather conditions determined how good a connection was made!!

Connection re-crimped and everything running full speed again!!!
