Speed no where near expected

I have recently upgraded to Full Fibre 500 for Ultrafast and I am getting nowhere near the speed expected.

I am getting around 200mbs, a little improved on my Ultrafast by 50mbs and I am expecting at least 400..

it has been this way since upgrading and my wifi is so unstable and down out frequenetly, about 5 to 10 times a day. Annoying as i work from home, and lose the interent during a Teams meeting.

Is this normal for full fibre?

@PanzerKaput where the bottleneck is the WiFi speed in your home increasing speed to your hub will not change that. In prsctice 200Mb/s is around double the speed most apps can use so increasing thst is unlikely to improve usability beyond speeding up lsrge file downloads.

In many UK homes you need more than a free router provided by an ISP like Sky to get decent WiFi in every room. This is diwn to the layout of your home, how it is built and the location of the hub. Thie first two are fixed but ensuring your hub os out in the open on a surface so it is above obstructions and away from other electrical equipment can help.

Otherwise paying Sky for their WiFi Max bundle and asking for a booster is one option but thst only guarantees 25Mb/s in every room. The other is to buy and use your own WiFi system if you are dertain that you need high speeds in every room this is your only option  but it will be expensive.

Re: Speed no where near expected

Thank you there for this explanation, so in reality  is makes little differences on the speed coming to the house but rather the router in the home. Wish that was explained to me by the advisor
