Slow upload speeds

Sky Broadband Superfast 35  - Download speeds are pretty much as promised however upload speeds which I was checking in order to use PlayStation Remote Play is a low 1.5 - 2.6mps. Phoned Sky Expert line yesterday and a replacement router was suggested with the expert suggesting that I should be getting somewhere between 7-9mps (I'd happily settle for 5). New router duly arrived today but stats are unchanged. Different Expert advised that since upload  speed was in excess of 1.5mps there is nothing that can be done. Agreed with me that my only option to obtain an increase would be to change supplier. Before I start looking for a viable alternative - is this really the best that Sky can do??

Its a tad slow but unfortunately isps might take action on upload speeds less than 1Mbps but that usually only entitles you to apply for a voucher

The table from the link i posted would give us more info on other products available

Re: Slow upload speeds

Hi, thanks very much for your help and confirming the earlier advice. Guess I'll test it then decide whether or not to change isp. Thanks again

Any other Openreach ISP would be using the same physical circuit, so you'd almost certainly have the same outbound speed limitation.

Re: Slow upload speeds

Thanks again, very disappointing especially when I can see from the text of my contract (taken out more than 18 months ago) that it states the minimum upload speed for my broadband line is 5.5mps with a maximum of  8.4mps and I'm getting nowhere close to either!

Re: Slow upload speeds

Apologies, forgot to attach this - does it suggest that another isp might do better?

@tiggerc1 the upload speed in the checker is whst Openreach expected your line to deliver while you know what it achieves in practice. If you switch to another isp using the same line the upload speed will be pretty much identical as its down to the line not the modem.

Switching only makes sense if you have cabelling for another network like Virgin Media in your road or another technology like mobile broadband or Starlink.

Re: Slow upload speeds

Thank you - guess it'll just have to be the long wait for full fibre to come to our village then!
