Slow speeds
Hello joined sky as they offered 5gbps and getting the exact same speeds as I was before I joined, the device I'm using has a wifi 7 card supporting speeds up to 2800mbps and device is like 3-4 meters away from router. Now I understand WiFi can be unreliable and again wouldn't get the full 2800 but to be getting around 500-600mbps is not right it surely. As said understand WiFi can be unreliable at times but surely I should have an improvement on speeds not the same if not worse. Just wondering if anyone has any advice or experience in this

Re: Slow speeds
@RaGeViperz Not sure if you have the grasp off speed and control, so here is the sky information linked below. Have you actual got the 5Gb/s + package from sky and using the Latest sky Hub on a CityFibre connection, do you also per chance have at least a 10Gb/s Nic card for Ethernet that you know is working and the PC is capable of the sustained speeds required, or at least close to those speeds.
If your PC is windows based have a look at the Network connected properties and see what it is saying, my pc syncs at 1733/1733 so will atache the picture but you will not see it until cleared for viewing.

Re: Slow speeds
@RaGeViperz Internal Network speed sustained combined wired/wireless but does require good Equipment either side. Again once picture is approved for viewing.

Re: Slow speeds
my WiFi link speed in windows is 2882/2882 and yes I do actually have 5gbs speed package from sky and the correct equipment. I do have a 10gbs Ethernet port on my pc to test. I get how it all works I know for example my phone is only gonnna have a link speed of 867mbps or around that so the connection will be slower but if I have better equipment ie pc with the WiFi 7 link speed of 2888 surely would be getting around 1800mbps on WiFi no?

Re: Slow speeds
@RaGeViperz What speed test are you doing to test the high speed throughput for the system, ie fast, ookla, thinkbroadband, cloudflare.
Ethernet to establish first that the unit can go there and that the tester server can do it also. See the link below!
Benchmarking Broadband ISP Speed Testers On a 10Gbps Line - ISPreview UK
Wi-Fi speed testing and overheads safe value is 50-70% of rated, so 866 is 433/600Mb/s

Re: Slow speeds
ookla I've been using for speeds tests aswell as fast. They both give me around 500-700 depending on the test. I will check the speeds through Ethernet later on and see what that comes back as but yeah as u said I know you don't get the full link speed but 50-70% would be fine I get that but doesn't seem to even be close to that

Re: Slow speeds
@RaGeViperz Cloudflare say they have a 10Gb/s speed test and ookla also but ookla recommend you install the app.

Re: Slow speeds
Its very unlikely to get even close to the shown link speed over WiFi.
The high speed packages from Sky are focused on giving many devices a decent speed, not to give a single device gbps of speed, especially when its connected over WiFi. If you are wanting to get near the line speed you are paying for you'll need to be using ethernet or be within line of sight of the Sky hub on an extremely good WiFi 7 connection. You mentioned you are around 3-4m away from the hub, is this in the same room within line of sight or is that through a wall?
