Slow WiFi

Moved a few weeks ago from Vodafone to Sky, both using the same CityFiber network and having a 900Mbs speed. Never had issues with Vodafone but my contract was ending and best they could do was 50% more expensive then with Sky.

Since day one did we notice that everything feels a lot slower, apps what used to load within split seconds, now take several seconds to load in and sometimes even need refreshing if it has not loaded in at all after 5 seconds. You can not watch movies on more then 1 device at ones, without buffering, incl watching a movie and being on social media on a phone.

The hub says it got the right speeds (app shows a daily average of 880Mbs), but any device will not test more then 100MBs when standing next to the hub and if you run two test on two devices at ones, will it somehow not go over 1Mbs in some instances.

Did do a reset and also turned off the shield, but that did not make much difference.  Got a Sky Max Hub, but not going to pay an extra £6 a month forax WiFi for some extras what should really be included.

Is there anything I can do, as Sky themselves only can advise to do a reset, turn it on and off again or pay more, while the hub is clearly having a bottleneck problem.

@JCHD4  In practicecif you want higher WiFi speeds you are best advised buying your own WiFi set up and using thst removing the need to pay ISPs extra to rent their kit.

Re: Slow WiFi

Was indeed afraid that will be the case so starting already looking into some options. Bit poor of Sky of having a cheap hub, but well.

Thank you for your response though

@JCHD4 went through the same process myself some years ago. The Deco M4 system I bought gives a minimum of 150Mb/s in every room in a 3 level homecand has paid for itself. A lot deoends on the layout of your home and how it is built a single Sky hub cannot give usable WiFi in every room in every house.
