Slow WAN Connection

Hey Forum,

Issues with the WAN connection, not the Wifi. I have an ASUS router that lets me run a speed test directly from the router over the WAN to the test servers. The firmware is up to date; I haven't changed any settings. The speed is logging consistently at 90 Mbps with zero activity on the router through the WIFI, so no contention. It has historically been around 550 Mbps, lower than the 900 advertised but good.

The Sky test says everything is Gucci(good), as the kids say.

Any bright ideas?

That might suggest a component is limited to 100Mbs rather than 1000Mbs

Which ethernet cable are you using between router and ONT?

* * * * * * *

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: Slow WAN Connection

Hi Timmy,

Thank you for the reply. Nothing has changed with the router or cabling since it was operating at 5x the speed. So it isn't a component issue.

The cable is CAT7, so it should handle up to 10Gbps I believe.
