Sky trying to charge for cancellation of engineer visit

Our whole street has been off for nearly 3 days but when trying to use the SKY broadband automated fault finding tool it kept saying the problem was in my property and I needed an engineer visit. This has happened to multiple people on the street but in pure frustration I booked an engineer as this seemed to be the only option to get the fault logged.

Tonight the broadband came back on in the whole street so I tried to cancel my engineer visit - I spend a very frustratinng time on the phone where I kept getting told that it would be £25 to cancel. So basically I have an engineer turning up Tomorrow for no reason because I am not going to pay £25 for what is/was a Network problem.

Has anyone had same and how did they resolve this ridiculous situation ?

Sky does charge £25 if any cancellation it put through the day before the appointment, personally I don't understand it either.
