Hi,
We have just moved in to a property and are on Essential Plus (which we had towait 3 weeks for). Sky said that after the line is taken over, the next day we would receive a phone call to discuss upgrading to fibre. We did not receive a call and when we phoned today, they said there is nothing that can be done and it is an Open Reach issue. When I contact Open Reach, they say it is a Sky issue. I have looked at details below for both our property and the neighbours property :
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome
All the information for both properties is the same including the cabinet number. Does anyone have any advice on how this can be resolved?

When or if capacity is increased it will show in
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome
As the top 2 rows were it says vdsl will show available instead of waiting list

Could you enter you full postal address and that of your neighbours into that link and post both tables after removing both addresses from the images

Was that your address?
It says waiting list which means all slots at the cabinet are taken up. You would need to wait until someones moves or openreach increase capacity of the cabinet

Hi,
Hope I have done this correctly. Those are the two property results side by side.

Re my last post you would have to keep an eye on that link and contact sky when waiting list turns to available. It is openreach whom are responsible for increasing capacity

Hi,
Which link would let me know this?
Thanks for your help

Ahh I got you. I don't suppose there are any incidents of Open Reach increasing cabinets in a timely fashion?
I will try and speak to them to see what they say
Thank you

Typically Openreach won't say anything at all to individual ISP subscribers. Their relationship is with ISPs, not end-users.

Hi,
Ahh I see. Is there anything which can be done? Would Sky be able to contact them to ask to increase the cabinet space? Just feels strange that it is 2022 and there is no way to get even an average internet speed

Your predicted ADSL speed appears to be below the Universal Service Obligation so that may provide you with some additional leverage.

Hi,
I have done some checks and it is averging at around 10-11mb/s with Sky which is over the threshold.
All I can hope for is City Fibre or Virgin install in the area soon. It really is a bit of a nightmare.

When a family friend had 'Waiting list' for their area I told them to contact Openreach via that form and Openreach came back with an estimated timescale for a capacity upgrade to the cabinet

A lot depends on what is required. If it's just an additional line card then that usually depends on the avaialability of the cards and field engineers to fit it. If it's a new cabinet or extension pod then that can take longer. Unfortunately the current FTTP rollout is pulling resources off cabinet upgrades.
When I moved 5 years ago I was lucky and got the last available port on the cabinet. It took almost 18 months to get a new cabinet commissioned and being a new build estate at least 15 properties were stuck on 1.5 Mbps ADSL for that time.
