Sky q broadband hub
3 times over the last week my hub drops out completely , the power light comes back to green, the WiFi light comes back to green but the internet light in the middle flashes orange for 10 seconds, goes out , flashes orange for 10 seconds and so on and so on .. this happens for hours sometimes .. checked the service checker and it says everything looks good yet we have no internet .. causing a massive problem as wife works from home and the internet is essential to what she does .

Re: Sky q broadband hub
Sounds like a security measure has been triggered to protect the connection from external attack, this sometimes needs doing to protect the internet and your resources, unfortunately, that is how the service works occasionally. The alternative is that Sky's resources get attacked from the internet and your own, what would you rather have an outage for an hour or for all your equipment to potentially be unavailable whilst an engineer is booked to fix resources that have been penetrated security-wise?

Re: Sky q broadband hub
@wilsh I would advance a different theory than @mae-3 which is any unit that spontaenously reboots is likely to be faulty or have a mains power issue. Assuming the power lead is properly connected and your lights are not flashing at the sametime call Sky and report the faulty hub. These units are pretty reliable but are getting quite old.

Re: Sky q broadband hub
You could confirm @Chrisee theory if it is happening regularly by disconnecting the broadband line for a day and see whether the router reboots itself by checking the router stats for uptime. 😎

Re: Sky q broadband hub
Mains power seems ok .. it just seems to struggle to get the internet to it .. I'll book an engineer and see what they say .

Re: Sky q broadband hub
@mae-3 Sky have access to detailed info reported by the hub so they should be able to see the cause of the reboots.

Re: Sky q broadband hub
I don't know anything about it tbh, nothing has changed or anything different been used or connected recently .. it just started happening .. I'll get an engineer out to look at it I think , I'm not very tech savvy unfortunately .

Watchdog these features are called, and a watchdog will reboot the router if warranted... 😎

Re: Sky q broadband hub
@wilsh you managed to get an engineer out to have a look, I've had issues for months and they generally just escalate it to Openreach who then say everything is fine on there end, they generally don't send broadband engineers out Sky

Re: Sky q broadband hub
@wilsh how did you manage to get an engineer out, I've had the reboots for months now, 1st they thought it was a faulty router but I've had about 6 replacements and still no joy, also the default gateway 192.168.0.1 will change randomly and I can't login to the router settings (god knows what it changes to) I very rarely login into the settings so it's definitely not me tampering with anything and only certain devices can connect like my phone and the sky Q box, but Sky seem to have no idea what is going on, I have to hard reset router to get it back to the default gateway, 5GHZ disables itself also and I have to re-enable the access point and wps, it's all very random, that's why I'm wanting to change provider, I think Sky's routers are just terrible in all honesty
