When first installed the Max hub will go through a process of downloading software and a series of restarts.
Not sure if you have allowed time for this initialisation or not, but it's worth pointing out.
If you were to try and reset the router during this process you run the risk of killing the router.

I've read through your post again and I may have misunderstood your actual issue. Is it your Sky Q which won't hold connection?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@musgrave5 the new Sky Max hub cannot connect to any Sky Q mini boxes or Q boosters. It only connects to the main Q box. Any Q minis need to be connected to the main Q box using the wps buttons on both units rather than to the hub. Also you can no longer use the wifi hit spots the Q boxes produce to connect your other devices.
Sky dont make this clear in their instructions.

@Chrisee Not quite. In an ideal world the first Q node to connect to the hub 6 would be the main Q STB. However, if RSI to this is not sufficient to initiate or hold a connection the first node can be a mini or a booster, depending on the size and layout of the home. The next Q node should then be WPS'd to that. It is then important to disable 2.4ghz on all Q nodes in the mesh, apart from the first one, so that they don't try and connect to the router. If this isn't done and more than one Q node connects to the hub 6 then this is where the system will start to fall over.
